It is easy to get bogged down in complex explanations as to why Labor had an historic Federal election win. No doubt a contributing factor is revealed in the chart below. Since 1978, the average unemployment rate in Australia has been 6.19%.

Of all our Prime Ministers, Albanese has delivered the lower average unemployment rate, 3.18%. A remarkable statistics, an average of full employment.

Yes, the cost of living has gone up, but it is equally true that people have a lot of employment options to cover those higher costs. It is worth considering fundamentals and not just the daily twists and nuances of an election campaign.
